In the Dark

Looking to you lover, I had fangs and claws
He turned off the light and whispered,
“I like you better in the dark.”
Feral fiend romance, wolf in the park.
We can find our way home just fine,
Follow the blood shed, follow the crime
Pulling each other close as we close our jaws
I could be your sunshine, I could be your princess
They don’t make girls like me,
The kind that breath death and tragedy
They don’t make girls like me
Monsters in a short skirt, in smooth skin
Paranormal western,
Billy the Kid and the Vampire Gang
We will run amok, taking those teeth
Pressing our luck
Into pages, dog-eared pages
They didn’t read this version at school
Lots of violence, and nudity
The way that history should be.
Fairy tales of monsters wearing men’s masks
But it’s just pretend, just pretend,
Paper people on the mend.
We are outlaws, I’m your girl with claws,
Spreading this story to playground children
Take us down, we are nightmares
Take us down, we are telling truths
Take us down, we can’t be trusted not to swallow you whole
“Turn off the light, I like you better in the dark.”
